On Friday 20th October, we are holding an Imagined Worlds Book Slam as one of a number of taster events in the run up to our Festival in February (http://eoccc.org.uk/iris-festival-of-imagined-worlds). The day will involve Young Adult Fantasy Fiction author Alan Gibbons delivering a talk to the whole of Year Seven during Period One.

This will be followed by Year Sevens spending the rest of the day working with sixth form helpers to create, in teams, a premise for an imaginary world and a book cover to go with this imaginary world. They will have a workshop by illsutrator Danny Flynn as part of this day event, and it will culminate in them presenting their ideas to submission editors!

If your son/daughter would like to be involved in the book slam itself, please can you email Dr Robinson, Director of the Iris Project, on lorna@irisproject.org.uk to register their interest as soon as possible.

NB This event is only open to Year Seven Cheney School students.
